Bro. Elmer W. Lyons, Sr.

Elmer W. Lyons, Sr., age 74 of Noxen, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2021 at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley. He was born in Noxen on March 25, 1946 and was the son of the late William and Emily Mary Casterline Lyons.

Elmer graduated from Lake-Lehman High School in 1964. He served in the 109th Field Artillery in the US Army National Guard, Nanticoke. He was employed by Proctor and Gamble, Mehoopany, was owner/operator of Lyons Trucking, Noxen, and later retired from Mountain Stream Construction, Hunlock Creek.

Elmer was a member of the South Mountain Land Association, Noxen, Noxen Rod and Gun Club, Noxen Volunteer Fire Company, George M. Dallas Lodge #531, as well as the Noxen United Methodist Church. He was also on the board of directors at Orcutts Grove Cemetery, Noxen for the past few years.

Elmer enjoyed woodworking in his shop, hunting, Lionel trains, and antiquing. He was a loving husband, father, uncle, and grandfather.

Elmer was preceded in death by sisters, Wilma Jean Weismiller and Dorothea Mathers.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Clara Hopfer; son, Elmer Lyons, Jr. and wife Denise; daughter, Andrea Beahm; brother, John Lyons and wife Audrey; sister, Margaret Coulbourne; granddaughter, Olivia Venessa Lyons; friend, Mitch Sickler, step-grandsons, Andrew Coutts and Travis Biondo; and many nieces and nephews.
